Over the years, one of the most common questions I get after presenting on hashtag#authenticity, hashtag#leadership, and Latina/o hashtag#identity is: When is it enough? (Speaking about having to code-switch at work.)
In this article, I answer this question by discussing the differences between hashtag#assimilation and hashtag#acculturation. The article provides the drawbacks of assimilation and the benefits of acculturation. I also provide practical suggestions on how to develop appropriate boundaries that help the reader answer the question for themselves.
